The solution
Fitted furniture design & layout

Bluespot® was commissioned for the manufacture, supply and install of the 241 student accommodation which comprises a variety of studios, premium and large cluster bedrooms to be fitted with a bedroom, kitchen and study area.

The bedroom area

The bedrooms were colour themed and whilst the bedroom fitted furniture was in Lakeland Acacia wood finish throughout the scheme, various accent colours were applied to the desk chairs and pinboards.  Bluespot® designed each double bed with drop down doors (including surround panels), complete with matching built-in wardrobe, side table and above bed bookcase. Most of the double beds also featured a large 1938L x 419H mm wall mounted body board with a 38 mm thick MFC headboard boxed to create a 200mm deep shelf. Studios were fitted with an additional above bed bookcase. The bedrooms were completed with coat hooks, mirrors, colour matching bed and desk pin boards. Some rooms also featured wall units with lift-up doors.

Breakfast spot & study area

The study area was furnished with cut to size built-in desk fitted with a large 3-drawer pedestal complemented by an additional 2x shelf under desk storage chest. The Acacia desktop featured a matching upstand. Bespoke extra shelving unit was also installed above the desk. Depending on the layout and size of the room, the shape of the desks was designed and adapted accordingly to maximise the space in each room.

Studios featured a TV mounted panel with porthole complete with a single door with adjustable shelf cupboard for additional storage as well as a round 650W x 730H mm breakfast table.

The cluster kitchens and wardens lounge were fitted with a much larger built-in 1650 x 930 mm breakfast bar in Light Grey/Quartz Cubanite and a coffee table.
